Maine's Cribstone Bridge...

Harpswell Maine is the home of the famous Cribstone Bridge. Constructed of native granite and laid in a criss-cross fashion, the bridge resembles a corn crib, hence the name. Erected in 1928 over Wills Gut in Harpswell, the bridge has withstood eighty years of tides and storms, providing passage to and from Orrs and Baileys Islands to the world beyond. Follow along as we Explore Maine, and the Cribstone Bridge...

Maine's Twenty Mile Falls...

Lewiston-Auburn’s Great Falls. Once known as Twenty Mile Falls, this area has a history rich in the lumber and textile trades. The hydraulic power the drop at this set of waterfalls provided an ideal location for the early sawmill trade, especially since it was on one of the major rivers used by the lumber drives up until the mid 20th century. During the 1850s, businessmen formed textiles companies and a canal was dug to harness that same hydraulic power. Come along as we explore a little bit of the history behind these waterfalls, and the communities built around them.

Reid State Park...

Reid State Park became Maine's first Salt Water park in 1946 when Walter E. reid donated land in Georgetown with the intent that it be forever preserved. Over the years it grew into the attraction that it has become today, with thousands of visitors flocking to its sandy beach and scenic shoreline every year. Enjoy this little clip I made in late 2007, on a foggy mist filled afternoon. The views, while not so great on this day due to the limited sun and visibility are stupendouse. If the opportunity ever arises, don't pass up a chance to visit...
